AngeliaSendTM - On-Line Help - Managing "Opt Outs"

In today's business climate it is essential that organizations using E-Mail for customer or member contact respect the privacy concerns of their correspondents.  One significant aspect of respecting privacy is the implementation of an "Opt Out" program to allow those who no longer wish to receive your E-Mails to remove themselves from your list.  You could, of course, just delete them from your contact file, but the obvious disadvantages of this method are (1) the possibility that they can reappear on your list in the future and (2) that you lose their contact information which may still have value for other purposes.

AngeliaSend - Campaign Send E-Mail Address Wizard

AngeliaSend makes it easy to implement an Opt Out program by providing two simple methods for registering Opt Out Requests.  First, the "From" E-Mail Address of any E-Mail that is in AngeliaSend's "Opt Out E-Mail Requests" folder will be flagged for omission.  Second, you can identify any contact in the "Available Contacts" list on the Campaign Send E-Mail Address Wizard as an "Opt Out Contact" by highlighting it (left click) and then right-clicking and selecting "Toggle Opt Out".  The "Toggle Opt Out" function will flag the contact as "Opt Out" if it is not currently flagged, or it will remove the flag if the Contact is already an "Opt Out".

The two Opt Out indicators are independent of each other and it is possible for a single contact to be identified as Opted Out by both methods.  "Opt Out E-Mail Requests" are identified in the "Available Contacts" list by a red or green light icon on the left-hand edge of the E-Mail Address column while those flagged as "Opt Out Contacts" are identified with a red or green flag icon.  Records with no Opt Out status are identified with a green check mark icon.

The color of the light and flag icons is controlled by the status of the respective Contact Filter  in the "Filter Contacts By" list.  If the appropriate filter is selected (checked) then the symbol will be rendered in red - and any affected contacts are not eligible for selection.  If the appropriate filter is not checked then the symbol will be rendered in green and the contact is eligible for selection.  Note that checking an Opt Out filter will cause any affected contacts that are in the "Selected Contacts" list to be returned to the "Available Contacts" list.

To remove an "Opt Out E-Mail Request", simply remove the requestor's E-Mail from AngeliaSend's "Opt Out Request E-Mails" folder.  Note that AngeliaSend inventories the "Opt Out Request E-Mails" folder and compiles its suppression list only when the Campaign Send E-Mail Address Wizard is first initialized.  Any E-Mails moved into or out of the "Opt Out Request E-Mails" folder after the wizard is visible will be ignored until the next time the wizard is launched.  Changes in "Opt Out Contact" status, on the other hand, take place immediately.
