AngeliaSchedulerTM - On-Line Help - Scheduler Service Operation

The AngeliaScheduler Service (AngeliaSchedSrv.exe) is installed as a service by running the executable with the "/Install" command line option.  Normally, this is accomplished by the initial Setup (Windows Installer) process.  However, if the need arises, the service can be uninstalled and reinstalled by using the "/Uninstall" and "/Install" command line options as required.  (For Example: "C:\Program Files\AngeliaScheduler\AngliaSchedSrv /Install" to install the service).

Operation of the AngeliaScheduler Service can be suspended by clicking "Stop" on the Windows Service Control Manager with the AngeliaScheduler Service selected.  The Windows Service Control Manager is normally found in the "Administrative Tools" group under the system "Control Panel".  You will have to stop the AngeliaScheduler Service if the need arises to run the AngeliaScheduler Configuration Utility as each application takes exclusive access to the AngeliaScheduler Configuration Database while operating.  Select the "Start" option under the Windows Service Control Manager to resume AngeliaScheduler Service operation.  The installation process installs the service as "Automatic" meaning that the service is started whenever the system is booted.  You may select one of the other startup modes if you wish, although you will then need to start and stop the service manually when you wish the AngeliaScheduler Service to operate.  Caution should be exercised in stopping the AngeliaScheduler Service while tasks that it scheduled are executing.

You may also use the Windows Service Control Manager to provide a Windows user-id and password that the AngeliaScheduler Service will use to logon on when starting up, or you may decide to leave the default "Local System Account" selection in force.  In addition, you can control the AngeliaScheduler Service’s access to the desktop by checking the "Allow service to interact with desktop".  Unless you check the "Allow service to interact with desktop" option, when tasks are executing there will be no visible command window or other on-screen evidence of their existence.  This means you must avoid the use of functions (such as the "Pause" command) which require a user response.  Also, be aware that changes to the service take effect the next time the service is started.  The AngeliaScheduler Service does not require any user to be logged on at the host system - it will schedule and execute tasks regardless of the condition of the host desktop.

A note on licensing:  Production licenses for AngeliaScheduler are based on MAC (Media Access Control) Addresses which requires the presence of a suitable Network Interface Card in the computer on which you plan to host the AngeliaScheduler Service.  Only Ethernet and Token Ring type adapters are currently supported although others may be added as needed.  A License Activation Key will be generated by Kamradt & Hill that is unique to a particular adapter.  The licensed adapter must be present and enabled whenever the AngeliaScheduler Service or Configuration Utility is to be active.  An Evaluation License may only be used for 30 days, and then only for evaluation purposes.  A production MAC Address License must be purchased before using the AngeliaScheduler Service for production purposes.
