In many applications, only certain types of files actually embody any significant user effort, and copying other associated derivative files may be a waste of time and computer resources. For instance, if you have word processing documents and print them to "PDF" files for distribution, copying the "PDF" files may be unnecessary since they can easily be re-created from their corresponding source word processing files.
AngeliaSync provides a simple mechanism to handle this situation - file inclusion by "File Name Extension" (which nearly always corresponds directly to the File Type). To include files by type, enter the extensions of the files you want to include in the area titled "Filename Extensions To Include:". Enter your extensions with each extension surrounded by quotes and with multiple entries each separated by a semi-colon. For example, to include only Word and Excel documents you could enter ".doc";".docx";".xls";".xlsx".
To make it even easier to supply a list of file extensions, AngeliaSync provides a "Files To Include By File Type Wizard". To use the wizard, first enter your Source Folder and any related options (see Selecting A Source Folder And Related Options for more information). Then, click the button with the ellipsis ("...") on the right-hand side of the "Enter File Extensions To Include" area. The wizard form will appear (an example is on the left side of this page).
The wizard will contain a list of all of the different file extensions that exist in the Source Folder tree that you entered on the main form. Be aware that changing source folder related options (such as "Include Hidden Folders" or "Process Entire Tree") will have an effect on the extensions listed in the wizard since the wizard will only include the extensions of files that meet the criteria you have defined. While the wizard is creating your extension list, it will show the folder currently being processed directly under the extension list. If your Source Folder Tree contains a large number of files, this process may take a few moments.
Make sure that the extensions that you want to include in the synchronization process have a check mark in the box to the immediate left of the extension -- and that any extensions that you want omitted are not checked. You can check (or uncheck) any item in the list by clicking on it. You can check all of the items in the list at once by clicking the "Check All" button, or you can uncheck all of the items in the list at once by clicking the "Uncheck All" button. Note that if your list of extensions is too long to fit on the screen at once, there will be a scroll bar on the bottom of the list allowing additional columns to be scrolled into view.
When you are satisfied with your selections, click "Apply" to save the selections you have made and return to the main form. Or click "Cancel" to abandon your selections there and return to the application's main form with the "Filename Extensions To Include" unaltered. Clicking "Apply" with all of the extensions selected or none of the extensions selected will result in an empty "Filename Extensions To Include" - which means that file name extensions will not be considered during synchronization.
